History
The current Amtrak station was constructed by the Great Northern Railway in 1956 and is located three blocks from the Washington State Ferry Terminal. There is a proposal for a new Edmonds Crossing multimodal station that will combine local and regional transit, commuter rail, Amtrak and the Washington State Ferries. The final plans for this facility have not yet been determined, pending securing of funding.
This facility has a waiting room and is staffed by an Amtrak employee.
Six daily Amtrak trains serve Edmonds, including the Empire Builder between Chicago and Seattle/Portland and the Eugene-Portland-Seattle-Vancouver Amtrak Cascades. The Amtrak Cascades are primarily financed through funds made available by the Washington State Department of Transportation and the Oregon Department of Transportation. Edmonds is also served by the Sound Transit commuter service.
